Leuven Statistical Day 2010

K.U.Leuven, May 28, 2010

About Date&Location Speakers Programme Registration Sponsors

A large variety of applied and theoretical statistical research is performed at the K.U. Leuven. The aim of the annual Leuven Statistical Day is to highlight this research, not only to our colleagues but to a wide audience, and to stimulate future collaborations and foster cross-fertilizations.

This year we focus on the particular theme Statistical approaches to signal/image analysis and decision support.

Leuven Statistical Day (LSD) is supported by LStat (Leuven Statistics Research Centre). This year the local organizers are Sabine Van Huffel and Ben Van Calster.

Speakers

Prof. Paulo Lisboa , from Liverpool John Moores University, will give two keynote lectures.

His research focuses on pattern recognition methods for decision support and exploratory data analysis to medicine, business and engineering, on survival modelling following tumour excision, and on brain tumour grading.

He is professor in Industrial Mathematics and also Head of the Graduate School. He has a cross-section of over 120 peer-reviewed reports and papers published, as well as 4 books edited on computational intelligence for biomedical engineering and business applications.
